Abstract
This study espoused the evolution and position of public libraries in Nigeria with a specific
focus on how it services can innovatively be delivered to its numerous clienteles through a
theoretic delve into the growth of public libraries in the modern world. It used the growth of
public libraries in Europe as a standard for setting the discourse on how Nigeria public
libraries can aggressively develop to meet the yearning of Nigerians using existing related
literature and Internet resources. The study enumerated how public library services before,
now and in the future are done through improved library services that can become the first
stop place for information yearning public in Nigeria. It also connects how public libraries
can adopt Artificial Intelligence, Drone and Android Apps can be used innovatively to
provide information services in Nigeria public libraries. The study recommended among
others review of existing public library law, improved staffing, collection development,
patronage and making public libraries agent of change in socio-political and economic lives
of Nigerians. It concluded that giving it right place, public libraries in Nigeria has the
prospect of serving the citizenry innovatively.
