Abstract
This study examines the interplay between information technology revolution, age
factor in the audience use of mass media and the dwindling newspaper future.
Survey as a form of descriptive research was used for the systematic collection of
information on newspaper use and information technology revolution from staff
and students in the University of Ilorin and Federal Polytechnic Offa, through
questionnaire. The findings show that audience exposure to media (newspaper,
radio, television and Internet) varies considerably across specific demographics
and it can be decisively said that the Internet which houses online newspaper is a
major predictor of the dwindling print media readership in Nigeria.
