| dc.description.abstract | The paper focuses on promoting adult learners’ health sustainability through social media advocacy in Nigeria. The paper discusses the concept social media, health and sustainability health, adult education, and the emerging role of social media to promote health behaviours towards a sustainable outcome. Emerging research is focused on evaluating the potential of social media as an opportunity to create awareness. Such measures require less effort in quantifying and isolating the effect. The design of the campaigns is required to be aligned in relation to stages of the behaviour change. The study provides suggestions and recommendations on how this can be achieved. One of the recommendations provided includes the need to implement fact-checking mechanisms on social media platforms to swiftly identify and counter false health information to help reduce the spread of harmful health-related rumours. Also, citizens should increase the use of social media tools for remote consultations, especially in rural areas, to enhance access to healthcare and reduce the burden on physical health facilities | |
