Abstract

This study examined impacts of environmental management on promotion of health and wellbeing of people in Ibadan metropolis, Oyo State. A descriptive research design of survey method was adopted. The population of study comprised all people within Ibadan metropolis, Oyo State. A multi stage sampling technique was employed to select four hundred(400) respondents used for this study. The research instrument used in gathering information on the study was structured questionnaire. A test-retest method was employed to determine the reliability of research instrument used for the study. A reliability coefficient of correlation of 0.79 was obtained. In all, three (3) research hypotheses were formulated and tested with the use of chi-square (x²) statistical method at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The result of analysis shows that environmental management education has greater impact on physical wellbeing of people. Also, environmental management education has much impact on mental wellbeing of people. Based on these findings, it was recommended that people should desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste products to prevent diseases affliction and physical injuries. Also, government should enact enabling law to prevent misue and abuse of environment.
