Abstract
Language, in general terms, is always seen as a means of communication. Although in language use communication can be facilitated through signs and symbols, the spoken and written forms remain the two basic ways of communication. This article looks at the two basic ways of communication and draws the distinction between them which lies in the expertise of the reader or speaker of the language.
