dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the perceived influence of nomadic education on sustainable socio-economic development of nomads in nomadic settlements in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised of 2,680 nomadic learners and 101 facilitators in Kwara State. The sample for the study comprised 378 nomadic learners and 54 facilitators. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select two local Government Areas (LGAs) from each of the three Senatorial Districs in the State.Three nomadic education centres were selected using random sampling technique from each of the selected LGAs. Twenty-one learners and three facilitators were selected from each of the 18 nomadic education centres. Two research instruments: Learner Questionnaire(LQ) and an interview Guide(IG)for facilitators were used to collect information from the respondents. The date collected were analyised using simple percentage scores and frequency counts. The results showed that 64.8% of nomads participated in nomadic education classes, it was also revealed that92.5% of he respondents agreed that the knowledge gained in nomadic education classes help the nomads to contribute meaningfully to the development of their community, it was also shown that 94% of the respondents agreed that the knowledge gained from nomadic education classes changed the nomads mode of dressing. the type of food they eat and their level of interaction with the non-nomads in the community.
