| dc.description.abstract | This study investigated the level of women’s participation in development programmes in Delta State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. A multistage sampling technique, comprising simple random, purposive, systematic methods, was utilised. The data for the study was collected from a structured questionnaire. Education, agriculture, health, training (skill acquisition), borehole water, roads/paths, markets, and town halls were the community development programmes that were executed in the study area. women’s participation was low due to gender discrimination, lack of time, low education, lack of information, indifference, husbands’ denials, lack of resources, and lack of government assistance. The implications of the findings for social work practice were discussed, and factors that would further enhance women’s active participation in community development programmes were suggested | en_US |
