However the development of dance studies in Nigeria may not have been so fruitful without the constant and consistent trainings and practices of dance ill some Universities. These "training and practices" have taken different facets ill various schools. Consequently, this paper intends to examine the contributions of the University of Ilorin Department of the Performing Arts to dance studies in Nigeria. Through interview and review of existing documents, this paper intends to examine and document the history of dance studies in the university from inception till now and also make a forecast of the future.
