dc.description.abstractDespite the significant role played by small businesses in fostering economic growth and development in Nigeria, they encounter various obstacles. These challenges encompass restricted financial access, bureaucratic complexities, and an unpredictable regulatory landscape. TraderMoni is a social intervention program initiated by the Nigerian government to provide financial support to micro businesses. This study evaluates the TraderMoni scheme on the ease of doing business in Yaba area of Lagos State. The study adopted survey research design to enable access to primary data from micro business beneficiaries of the TraderMoni scheme in the Yaba area of Lagos State. Multi-stage sampling technique was adopted to incorporate beneficiaries in strategic locations within Yaba area of Lagos State. SmartPLS3 partial least square and bootstrapping techniques was adopted for data analysis. From the test of hypothesis, only credit scheme was found to be significant in influencing the ease of doing business in the study area. In conclusion, relevant stakeholders including business associations, financial institutions and regulatory bodies in the planning and implementation of the TraderMoni scheme should ensure that adequate policy planning is carried out to ensure that such policies align with the needs of businesses and create an enabling environment for business growth and survival in promoting ease of doing business in the Yaba area of Lagos State. Through this evaluation, policymakers can gain valuable feedback and actionable recommendations to fine-tune the TraderMoni scheme and design more targeted interventions to support the growth and resilience of small businesses in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
