The paper tries to discuss the recurrent issues on ethnocentric attitudes that have afflicted Nigerians and their subsequent implication on the teaching and practice of Religions in Nigeria. It further argues that this situation is as a result of age-long foundation and elitist usage of religion to promote political privileges and primordial interest. The paper further asserts that, in the light of the social teachings of the Catholic Church, Nigerian Leaders could build a united nation. The paper concludes that even development, ethnic equality and fairness would invariably reduce ethnocentric attitude in Nigeria and enhance the practice of religions.en_US
