Employing a mixed-methods approach that combines participant observation, key informant interviews, and questionnaire analysis, this research investigates the festival’s organisational framework, leadership, finance, programming, and community engagement. The study provides an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities inherent in managing film festivals in Nigeria, shedding light on the complexities of festival organization and offering valuable insights for festival organisers, policymakers, and stakeholders. The findings of this study would contribute significantly to the growing body of Nollywood scholarship and film festival research, providing a nuanced understanding of the intricacies of managing a film festival in a developing economy. The research highlights the strengths and weaknesses of CCFF’s management structure, identifying areas for improvement and offering actionable recommendations for enhancing the festival’s effectiveness and sustainability. The study’s insights and recommendations are relevant not only to CCFF but also to other film festivals in Nigeria and beyond, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in film festival management, Nollywood, and cultural development in Africa. By exploring the challenges and opportunities faced by CCFF, this research aims to inform strategies for promoting the growth and development of film festivals in Nigeria, ultimately contributing to the country’s vibrant film industry. | |
