African Journal of Science, Technology, Mathematics Education, (AJSTME) . 7 (2); 80 - 87,https://uilspace.unilorin.edu.ng/handle/20.500.12484/8829The paper surveyed the opinion of agricultural teachers on the use of social media for teaching agricultural science in the study area.This study examined secondary school teachers’ perceptions of social media use in teaching agricultural science in Ilorin Metropolis, Nigeria. Four research questions were raised and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Descriptive research of the survey method was adopted for the study. A total of 84 respondents formed the sample size for the study. Researchers’ designed questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the research questions while t-test and ANOVA were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that the teachers had negative perception on the use of social media for teaching. It was recommended among others that schools and Ministry of Education and other parastatals should organize workshops and seminars on the use of social media and ICTs in teaching to ameliorate the negative perceptions of social media use for teaching agricultural science.ensecondary school agricultural teacher, social media perception, useSecondary school agricultural science teachers’ perceptions of social media use in teaching in Ilorin metropolis, Nigeria.Article
