One specific objective with its corresponding research question and four hypotheses guided the study. The population for the study was 43 PE teachers. No sampling was done as all the population was used. A descriptive survey design was used. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire. Data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The research question was answered using frequencies and percentage and the hypothesis was tested using chi-square statistics at 0.5 level of significance. Results of the study indicated that considerable proportion of teachers (54.4%) identified the factors studied as barriers to effective teaching of PE. There was no significant difference found in the barriers to effective teaching of PE based on gender, educational qualification and teaching experience, while there was a significant difference on barriers based on school types.
