The paper discusses the concept, social media, health and sustainability health, adult education and the emerging role of social media to promote health behavours towards a sustainable outcome. Emerging research is focused on evaluating the potential of social media as an oppurtunity to create awareness. Such measures require less effort in quantitative and isolating the effect. The design of the campigns is required to be aligned in relation to stages of the behaviour change. The study provides suggestions and recommendations on how this can be achieved. One of the recommendations provided includes the need to implement face-checking mechanisms on social media platforms to swifftly identify and counterfalse health information to help reduce the spread of harnful health related rumours.
