The specific of the study was to assess: SSS students’ general knowledge of Yoruba proverbs; jence of gender; and school type on students’ knowledge of Yoruba proverbs. The - zdopted the cross-sectional sub-type of the descriptive survey method. A sample of _zdred and twenty (120) respondents was randomly sampled from the twelve (12) ’ " die LGA. The study adopted a researcher-designed questionnaire titled: Senior Students’ Knowledge of Yoruba Proverbs in treOpoOOO Local Government of : Siofe” The instrument contained twenty open-ended Yoruba' proverbs which the - ients were expected to complete. Frequency count, mean, percentage indices and ■cn :-zdstic were used to analyse the data. e suits of the findings indicated that the knowledge of students in Yoruba'proverbs in zed LGA was average; there was no significant difference in students’ knowledge on gender (t(usj = -123; p> 0.05); and there was a significant difference in the ' knowledge based on school type (tam — 3.142; p< 0.05. on the findings of this study, it was recommended that parents should endeavour to dieir children Yoruba proverbs; teachers should endeavour to teach Yoruba re, especially proverbs; and Government should facilitate the effective £mentation of the national policy on education with reference to the teaching of Wb~-ba language and its literature.enKnowledgeAssessmentProverbsYoruba ProverbsStudentsArticle
