The communication gap betweenUmayr andUmar while in Himsmade Umar, the President, have a wrong impression about the attitude of the governor and this led to his removal from office. Coming to know his leadership style, the khalifah requested for his re-appointmentbut he rejected it. Using historical research method, the writers identified lessons contained in the leadership style of Umayr and their relevance to Nigerian government. Findings of the research reveal that Umayr, like other Companions of the Prophet, was a carbon copy of his master, Prophet Muhammad (S.A), in character. The attitude of Companions of the Prophet to the management of public fundis a reflection of their understanding of the principles of good governance in Islam.
