Therefore, basic amenities in form of good road networks, qualitative education, stable power supply, employment opportunities, quality hospitals with good service delivery to mention a few becomes unavailable in the country. It is a factthat most heinous crimes in Nigeria such as terrorism, armed-robbery, prostitution, kidnapping, ritual killings and internet fraud can be traced to corruption and bad governance in Nigeria. Therefore, this is an attempt to examine the issue of corruption in Nigeria and how the ethics inherent in the African religions can serve as a solution to the re-occurring problem. The paper adopts qualitative and quantitative research methods. While during the course of the research it was revealed that, attention not paid to African religious ethics and values due to civilization and the imported religions in Nigeria are some of the empirical factors responsible for corruption in Nigeria.
