A descriptive research design of survey method was employed for the study. The population for the study comprises of all coaches and registered players in 1st Jamb tertiary institution football competition. A multistage sampling technique of purposive and random sampling procedure was used to select 150 respondents sampled for the study. A researcher structured questionnaire of four likert scale format was employed for the study. The validation of the instrument was done by three lecturers in the department of Human Kinetics Education, University Of Ilorin. The reliability level of the instrument was established through test re-test method using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). A correlation coefficient of 0.87 was obtained. The instrument was administered by the researcher and four trained research assistants. The data collected were analyzed using description statistics of frequency count and percentage for personal data of the respondents while inferential statistics of chi square was used to test the hypotheses for the study at 0.05 alpha level. The results of the findings revealed that sport facilities served as significant determinant of player performance in 1st JAMB tertiary football competition because the calculated x² value of 30.05 > critical x² value of 16.92, motivational factor served as significant determinant of players performance in 1st JAMB tertiary institution football competition, because, the calculated x² value of 27.34 > critical x² value of 16.92 with 9 degree of freedom at 0.05 > critical x² value of 16.92 with 9 degree of freedom at 0.05 alpha levels, level of officiating served as significant determinant of players performance because, the calculated x² value of 40.50 > critical x² value of 16.92 at 9 degree of freedom. Based on the finding of this study the researcher recommends that, adequate sports facilities must be upgraded so as to enhance adequate preparation of students in orders to improve their performance sports administrators should endeavor to motivate the students’ athletes in a competition as regard the allowance and award scholarship.
