Insecurity is a multifaceted issue which manifests in different forms including murder, bombing, arson, armed robbery, corruption, injustice, kidnapping, hostage taking, creation of fear and destruction of lives and property. It is in the light of the foregoing that this paper examines terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria, the causes, the effect of insecurity on human beings and the Nation’s economy. The article uses social theories, traditional, functionalism and Marxism theories and relative deprivation theories to explain this problem in Nigeria via data from secondary sources. Consequently, the paper proffers moral and religious values as panacea. Using historical and analytical methods, the paper discusses the central role that security.
