The work explores al-Banna’s conceptualization of peace as a foundational principle in Islam, rooted in justice, tolerance, dialogue, and social cohesion. Through textual analysis, the study identifies key mechanisms proposed by al-Banna, including interfaith engagement, ethical leadership, community-based reconciliation, and the promotion of shared moral values across religious divides. The paper situates these strategies within Nigeria’s multi-religious and multi-ethnic context, where recurring tensions between religious communities have posed significant challenges to national unity and development. By drawing parallels between al-Banna’s framework and Nigeria’s socio-political realities, the study argues that his emphasis on mutual respect, inclusive governance, and non-violent conflict resolution offers practical insights for addressing sectarian violence. Furthermore, the research highlights the role of religious leaders and institutions in fostering peaceful coexistence, advocating for collaborative peacebuilding initiatives that transcend doctrinal differences.
