Item ACADEMIC LIBRARIANS’ PERCEPTION ON ACCREDITATION PRACTICE IN SELECTED NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES(Department of Sociology/Anthropology of Madonna University,Anambra State., 2022) OTONEKWU, FLORENCE ONYEISIAbstract Every university is set up for teaching and learning, research, and community service or development. This triad mission forms the basis to determine the quality and standard of university education. As a measure of the quality of university education delivered or received, accreditation exercise is carried out regularly. In the process, the quality of library services provided is a huge determinant of the overall quality of university education, and should this be below expectation, a university stands the risk of being denied full accreditation with its implications. Against this backdrop, this paper investigated academic librarians’ perception on accreditation practice in selected nigerian university libraries. Survey research design was used for the study. The population comprised of 64 academic librarian in the study area. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 64 academics in four university libraries. Total enumeration or census method was adopted for this study. This is because the researcher considered the population as not too large to manage and that the use of the total enumeration can eliminate any potential bias that may occur if a sample is selected and allowed for the generalization of the findings from the study. The questionnaire was validated, tested for reliability, and administered to the sample. O; AKAWU, LAMI; OYEDOKUN, TUNDE TOYESEItem Effects of Motivation On Staff Performance and Job Satisfaction In The University of Ilorin Library(Faculty of Adab and Humanities Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta, Indonesia, 2021) OTONEKWU, FLORENCE ONYEISIThis study examined the effects of motivation on job satisfaction and performance of librarians in University of Ilorin Library. Observation revealed that many employers have attempted several programs to motivate their employees, yet they have not worked for every category of staff in the library. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population was made up of all the professional and paraprofessional librarians, totally 46 librarians. Relevant data were collected using a questionnaire and 41 out of 46 copies. The questionnaire distributed were returned and used for the analysis using simple percentages and frequency tables. The findings show that librarians in job performance can be judged based on the time taken to complete task, as well as the accuracy and quality of the work done; motivational factors such as an opportunity for promotion, good working condition, involvement at work, promotion and financial reward affects the job performance and satisfaction of library staff; job satisfaction has great influence on job performance; general job satisfaction exists among the librarians in the University of Ilorin Library. The study concluded that staff performance and job satisfaction of library staff is dependent on motivation. The information science professionals are greatly concerned with the word, information, specifically on their creation, selection, organization, storage, transformation, transition, utilization and most importantly their management as vital resources. Information storage, retrieval system and all other information infrastructure that constitute information system deals with information as a resource that can be stored in an actual sense of physical and virtual collection. Information resources in the ambit of information resources management cannot achieve anything except people do something with it either by examining, categorizing, or describing it, but in the end, they understood, rebut, alter or do all sorts of manipulation to the dataset or information.
