Item CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: A REVIEW(Journal of Early Childhood and Primary Education, 2015) Abdulwahab, R.The significance of education is always with special reference to the learner. Children exhibit diverse traits. This paper centred on children with special needs, types and characteristics of children with special needs that teachers come in contact with. It equally discussed possible educational provision and strategies that teachers employed to help children cope in the school. Some educational programmes that could help teachers in handling different traits i children were also highlighted. The paper concluded that teachers could adopt the principle of impulsivity, learners' centred approach, synergy from stakeholders, vocational skills and entrepreneur education and exercise of practical life among others to achieve lifelong learning in children.Item Community Mobilization towards addressing Orphans and Vulnerable Children phenomenon in Nigeria.(African Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. K.; Abdulwahab, R.; Habibu, I.Y.This study examined community mobilization towards addressing orphans and vulnerable children phenomenon in Nigeria. Three research questions were raised and one null hypothesis was tested to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. 6,774,331wasconsidered as the target populations. A sample size of 480 respondents selected was across the six geopolitical zone of Nigeria. A multi-stage sampling procedure consisting of stratified sampling, simple random sampling and purposive sampling technique was used. A self-developed questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) were used for data collection. The reliability test of the instruments was done using test retest technique and a co-efficient 0.87 was obtained. The administration of the instrument was done by the researchers and five field research assistants. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count, percentages, mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Hypothesis formulated was tested at 0.05 level of significance. One of the findings revealed that the needs of OVC have not been adequately met. It was therefore, recommended that community members should pool their resources and ideas to carter for them especially in providing access to health, education and welfare services. In addition, global partnership among stakeholders particularly the civil societies should be sought and pursued.Item EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE EDUCATION: A VIABLE TOOL FOR CHILD GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.(Primary and Tertiary Teacher Education Association of Nigeria (PATTEAN), 2013) Abdulwahab, R.Early childhood care education is an important component of universal basic education. It constitutes a crucial stage as well as a critical period in the life span of a child. It connotes an early intervention in child's physical, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual well-being. This paper aims at providing conceptual framework of early childhood care education, its history and overall philosophy in Nigeria. The paper examined early childhood care education as a viable tool of influencing some specific areas of child growth and development, owing to its future prospects and challenges. It concludes by establishing that effective funding, and evaluation, partnership and collaboration from stakeholders, child friendly environment, proper health and nutrition among others, will go a long way in actualizing quality early childhood program me in Nigeria
