Item SOCIO-ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS OF ECOTOURISM IN SELECTED HOST COMMUNITIES OF SEPETERI AND IGBETI IN OLD OYO NATIONAL PARK(DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY, BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY MAKURDI, 2019-12) ADENIYI, E.EEco-tourism are ecological ways of conservation of flora and fauna species found in protected area. The focus of the study on the contribution to ecotourism in selected host communities of Old Oyo National park .the specific objectives of the study were to;(i.)examine community participation in service rendering in the two host communities selected in the study;(ii.)examine the level of poverty through ecotourism in the two host communities; and (iii.)determine the relationship between employment and monthly income in Igbeti and Sepeteri selected for this study. Both primary and secondary sources of data were used. Simple random sampling technique was adopted to select respondents from each ward. Two hundred and seventy copies of questionnaire were randomly to the respondents in Igbeti and Sepetri. Descriptive( charts) and inferential statistics (Chi-square) were used to analyse the data collected . findings revealed that the communities were involved in transportation services in the study area. Also, it further revealed that the commmunites in the entertainment of the eco-tourst and some of the indigenes were involved in tour guidance and lastly, the conclusively the indigenes that are close to the National park should be given opportunity to work in the park and other infrastructures should be provided for the host communities. Therefore, the study recommends that government should provide basic infrastructures to the host communities and souvenirs should be produced to show case the wealth of the host communities .Item Tenants’ Satisfaction and Housing Conditions in the Traditional Wards of Ilorin, Nigeria.(Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ilorin, 2014) ADENIYI, E.E; Malik, NAThe study examined tenants' satisfaction and housing conditions in traditional florin Wards. The study objectives were to identify tenants' satisfaction and housing types and factors influencing satisfaction of occupants and housing conditions in the traditional wards of [Iorin. Both primary and secondary sources of data were entployed to obtain first hand information from the respondents. The study focused on household heads, cutting across the twenty wards. Systematic random sampling method was used to select 600 household heads used as subjects for the study Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis. The result of Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) revealed that there is a significant difference between level of satisfaction of tenants and housing conditions in the selected wards. The findings revealed that monthly income, basic infrastructures and housing quality were the most important determinant variables . The study therefore recommends improved environment with infrastructural facilities provided to satisfy tenants in specific in different house types. Also, planners, builders and government agencies should always consider the housing users before building while government should design a developmental strategy geared towards the provision of appropriate basic infrastructures in each ward.
